MBCA ALL-DISTRICT VOTING
MBCA ALL-DISTRICT VOTING PROCESS
Overview
The MBCA annually recognizes outstanding players with All-District Honors, an award based on a player’s entire season body of work, not just district tournament performance. Selections are made through nominations and voting by MBCA member coaches.
Voting Timeline
All-District voting ballots, along with nomination sheets, will be distributed via email on the Sunday prior to the start of district tournaments.
Completed ballots are due on the Sunday following the conclusion of district tournaments.
Voting Guidelines
Coaches are required to rank players in order from 1st to 10th, with 1st representing the top player in the district. Coaches may not vote for their own players.
If a district has:
- More than 10 nominees: Coaches must vote for 10 players, starting with a 1st-place vote
- Fewer than 10 nominees: Coaches must vote for all listed players, beginning with 1st place and continuing sequentially until all players are ranked
- In the event of a tie for 10th place, all tied players will receive All-District Honors. No tiebreakers will be used.
District Player of the Year
The player receiving the highest point total from voting will be named District Player of the Year. If multiple players are tied for the highest point total, they will be recognized as District Co-Players of the Year.
District Coach of the Year
The MBCA member coaches vote on District Coach of the Year. The member coach receiving the most votes will be named District Coach of the Year. Coaches are not allowed to vote for themselves for District Coach of the Year.
- If two coaches receive the same number of votes, both coaches will be recognized as District Co-Coaches of the Year.
- If 3 or more coaches receive the same number of votes, member coaches will receive a tie-breaker ballot and re-vote.
- If there are any ties that result after the re-vote, all tying member coaches will receive District Co-Coaches of the Year honors.
Voting Integrity
The integrity of the voting process is essential to maintaining the credibility of MBCA honors. Coaches are expected to adhere strictly to all voting guidelines and conduct themselves with honesty and professionalism throughout the process.
PLEASE NOTE: The MBCA Executive Board reserves the right to remove that coach’s ballot and/or their players from consideration if a coach:
- Votes for their own players
- Votes for themselves as Coach of the Year
- Attempts to manipulate the voting process
- Shares district voting results
Results & Release Dates
The MBCA will collect and verify all voting results before releasing All-District teams to the public, including coaches and school administrators.
MBCA All-District teams will be released:
- Classes 1–3: March 16, 2026
